In a Specialized Rehabilitation Therapy program, you receive physician-led, multidisciplinary care from a team of specialists. This includes physical, occupational and speech therapy. Unlike outpatient programs that require patients to visit therapists for 30 minutes or an hour a few times per week, inpatient short term rehabilitation programs provide at least 3 hours of therapy each day and 24 hour medical/nursing care.

Physiatrists (physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians) manage your medical issues and determine whether you’re able to participate in therapy. Depending on your needs, you may have acute physical, occupational and/or speech therapy up to five days a week for at least three hours each session. Rehabilitation nurses work with you on a 24-hour basis to ensure consistency and help you meet your goals.
A team of specialized rehabilitation professionals will treat you in an environment that’s controlled and safe. INTEGRIS rehabilitation therapists have extensive experience treating patients with severe injuries and conditions. This includes traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and multiple trauma and amputation injuries.
People with amputations and other complex injuries or conditions often require rehabilitation services throughout the hospital continuum of care, including acute, subacute, and long-term rehabilitation. They may also need rehabilitation in community-based settings and in their homes. However, implementing this package of interventions requires a level of clinical reasoning that is available to physiatrists and other specialist rehabilitation providers in hospitals but beyond the capabilities of mid-level rehabilitation providers and health workers in primary care facilities or communities.
